Community-wide Garage Sale

Having your own garage sale doesn’t attract a lot of customers, but a community-wide Garage and Yard Sale will draw a huge crowd! We are planning such an event for Saturday May 31 from 9 AM to 4 PM.  This is your chance to rid yourself of all those odds and ends around the house that seem to reproduce all by themselves, and make a little money at the same time.

We encourage everyone to participate as individual households or by pooling resources with neighbours. This is also a great opportunity to stroll around the community, meet your neighbours and pick up some treasures. Just ask Bill down the alley who acquired a lovely set of moose antlers from me at the last garage sale. Even the kids can get involved by setting up refreshment stands.

The community association will pay for the advertising and we will create a map of  Meadowlark Park indicating all the houses taking part so there will be no costs to the residents who participate. If you do not have the inclination to have a sale at your house or at your neighbors, there will be a small number of tables available for rent in the basement of the hall. These will cost $20 each, and can be reserved in advance on a first come, first-served basis.

If you do not want to participate in the sale at all, but would still like to get rid of stuff, you can donate items to the community table. Profits from donated items that are sold will be directed to the community and unsold donated items will be given to charity at the end of the sale.

When you decide to participate, please e-mail right away (gazette@meadowlark.org) or call Karen Bassie (253 7944) so we can add your house to the map, reserve your table or arrange to have your donated items picked up.

Thanks to community volunteers

The recent thank-you for community volunteers went off without a hitch. Here, some junior residents enjoy beef on a bun with the rest of the crowd.
