The Meadowlark Park
Community Hall
The Upper Hall
Our Upper
Hall is approximately 30 feet wide by 50 feet long with a high ceiling. There's
a two-step riser to a stage that makes it ideal for speeches or deejays. It's
finished in a warm, wood-grained panelling with brass plates. Windows are sealed
units, doors are well-insulated. There's a kitchen that includes a fridge,
stove, microwave and coffee urn. The kitchen also has a pass-through counter, so
excess traffic can be directed away from kitchen activities. The pass-through
counter also has a hot and cold bar sink for convenience. The upper hall is in
great shape and very clean, although some of its long-planned renovations are
already under way.
The Lower Hall
The lower hall is slightly smaller than the upper
hall, and has lower ceilings at 9 feet. It was renovated four short
years ago and is completely rental-ready. It is ideal for training
activities or meetings. It has its own washrooms and its own
kitchenette, also with a pass-through counter, for safety. It is
equipped with whiteboards, for visual training activities, and has its
own chairs and tables. It has been used by companies, churches, clubs
and individuals for everything from training classes to Sunday School,
to staging activities for outdoor dog agility trials. It's a very
versatile space.
Storage Facilities
The hall has two storage rooms available for rent.
These are clean and dry, concrete floor spaces, with wooden walls. Each
room is approximately 10x10. Rental of these spaces is at your own risk,
for security and fire - our procedures are good, but we cannot be held
responsible for the liability of others, or for forced entry. These
rooms are excellent for short-term storage of items you do not need to
see for a while. Access is only by appointment with the hall manager.
The hall manager holds the keys to the room, and to the hall.
The Park
The community hall is located on 58th Ave SW,
immediately adjacent to a city park. The park is available for hall
users, as it is for members of the public, but it can also be booked
specifically through the City of Calgary, Parks and Recreation. Our
recommendation, if you need to make sure the park is there for you, is
to book it through the City department, then book the hall through us.
We cannot book the park for you. The park has a baseball diamond which
is used for simple games of catch, and for organized league softball. It
also boasts a children's playground that is scheduled to be upgraded in
2007.
The Parking Lot
The parking lot is sufficient for the normal number
of vehicles of people who are using the hall. Should it happen to
overflow, parking is available on 58th Ave (stay out of the bus zone!)
and along Meadowview Road's north side. Be wary of loading zones and
other parking restrictions, and please don't block our neighbours'
access to their own garages. We try hard to be good neighbours.
The Building
Our community hall boasts a total of five washrooms -
two downstairs and three upstairs. The upper hall also includes a
barrier-free washroom for special needs individuals. We've also added a
wheelchair ramp for access to the upper hall from the front. In the
future we will be paving the walkway on the west side of the hall, to
allow for safer flow of pedestrian traffic from the parking lot to the
front entrance, and - a little bit further on - we plan to pave the
parking lot.
